He notes the superior color and maturity of apples due to long sunny days and late falls, compares with Oregon and Washington, and urges local promotion to build a lasting reputation, citing high land values and upcoming orchard expansion.
The report notes few stock losses despite cold weather and heavy snowfall. Losses have been minor and mainly sheep. Flockmasters and herdsmen have secured feed, and hay is generally available nearby. A potential hay shortage could worsen conditions if low temperatures persist.

W D Wilson, a Roundup miner, was arrested on a Missouri warrant accusing him of murder. He admits being the sought man but says the killing was in self defense.
Secretary McVeagh proposes increases and new appropriations for Montana to fund the Helena assay office payrolls and incidentals, Surveyor General salaries, land investigations, and extensive national forest, Indian, irrigation, and public building needs. Amounts cover clerks, salaries, forest districts, Fort Belknap Crow and Flathead reservations, and Fort Peck surveying, with bonds to complete Missoula and Great Falls public buildings.
The Farmers State bank is incorporated in Sidney with 20000 capital. The state fish hatchery planted 6000000 fry in Montana streams. Bozeman Presbyterians move to a new church. A shipment of over thirty carloads of beef cattle from Sheridan was forwarded by Reed & Smith. Annie Marie Lambert of St Paul is admitted to practice law in Montana, the fifth in state history, with an office in Missoula. Mileage prices and timber purchases are noted along with Putte Postmaster Gillis seeking relief from a clerk shortage. Bert and Wallace Pent are charged by Wyoming authorities with driving sheep into Wyoming, facing jail or a 500 fine. George R. Brown calls a meeting of county officials at Gitlings on the 18th, 19th and 20th.
