Social security rate set to rise to three percent
Helena reports that social security rates will increase from 2 to 3 percent starting January 1. Montana collector Thomas M. Robinson says the hike will be split equally between employers and employees with payroll withholdings of 1.44 percent from salaries and matching funds by employers. A new federal rule also allows using depository receipts No. 450 for paying both social security and withholding taxes.
