Drastic Reductions in County Valuations Hit Montana
Helena Dec 14 Drastic widespread reductions in assessed valuations in 1934 have disrupted Montana's county classifications. Thirty three of 56 counties dropped classifications, many from sixth to seventh class with others into third class. Chairman James H Stewart calls the dreary year a heavy burden amid low mood. no county remains in first class. Roberts Rancher Dies After Flying Glass Crash
W. F. Weidman, 62, a pioneer rancher from near Roberts, died in Columbus hospital after a collision sent his car into a ditch and shattered the windshield. An artery in his neck was severed by flying glass from the crash. He had met his wife and son after a trip to relatives in Butte.

Columbus Hill Section of Highway No 10 Might Be Next
The 1935 plan calls for letting the Columbus hill section of United States highway No 10 for construction. The four to five mile project would close a gap west of Billings with two proposed routes, and includes substantial cutting and fills up to 40 feet in places. Overhead grade separations near Mossmain and east of the Laurel bridge may follow federal approval. Test borings are underway for a Yellowstone river bridge at Laurel near the damaged span.
