Grade School Christmas Concert This Thursday Evening
The Grade School presents its annual Christmas Concert in the school gym at 8:00 p.m. The chorus performs favorites including Silver Bells and Do You Hear What I Hear with Miss Sherry Bridgewater directing. The band, directed by Mr Dave Boys, closes with Jingle Bells and Silent Night as lists of chorus and band members are provided.

State PP E Winner Heads to Houston for National Meet
Jay Graham the State Punt Pass and Kick champion travels with his father Jim Graham and Ford rep Ben Berg from Billings to Houston where 78 regional contenders vie for a spot in the National PP&E at the Astrodome during the Super Bowl season. A banquet honors the group Saturday night before the Houston Oilers Chargers game and a six age group elimination run off selects two finalists for half time to advance. Eastern U S winners also compete in Dallas for Super Bowl berths. Funeral services for Arthur W Slim Doyle 85 were held at the Lowry Funeral Home with burial in Mountain View Cemetery Big Timber. Doyle, born March 27 1886 in Texas, moved to Montana in 1907 and ran several bars including City Club in Big Timber. He was married to Mina Ostenson in 1953. she died earlier in 1971.

FFA Speaking Contest At Local High School Dec 16
The annual FFA Public Speaking Contest will be held December 16 at 7 30 in the High School Study Hall. Participants include Mela Wersvelt Mark Hotchkiss Mike Wilcox and Arnold Tollefson. speeches cover any aspect of agriculture. The winner advances to the District Convention in Sheridan Montana. Everyone welcome. A Livingston man pled guilty to grand larceny before District Judge Jack D Shanstrom. William Vandersys 24 received a deferred imposition of sentence for one year for theft of an air chisel and hammer between March 4 1970 and March 5 1971 owned by Loren Brewer of Big Timber.

Blizzard Halts Traffic Delays West From Big Timber to Bozeman
High winds and zero visibility closed Highway 10 from Big Timber to Bozeman last Wednesday night. Winds gusted to 105 mph near Livingston causing extensive damage. Traffic was halted at Big Timber by order from Highway Department. 68 trucks and many motorists stranded overnight. Cars rerouted through Livingston. Greyhound bus sheltered at Grand Hotel. The storm damaged buildings, topped power outages, and cattle roamed highways. A second wind event hit on Tuesday the 14th with further damage and a horse trailer blown over west of Livingston.

Herder Matmen Win Tie in Boulder and Whitehall Duals
The Herders beat the Panthers 40 to 24 and tied Whitehall 33 to 33 in two Friday matches. Big Timber Big Timber High School squads travel to Bozeman for the Rosary Tournament after splitting conference games. The Sheepherders beat Harlo 66 55 then lost to Roundup 58 55. They open versus Twin Bridges at 7 30 Friday with Willow Creek at 9.

Fire Destroys Bee Hay Shed at Rasmus Boe Ranch
A sudden blaze driven by high winds destroyed a metal hay shed and 1500 bales of chopped hay at the Rasmus Boe ranch above East Boulder, about 25 miles from Big Timber. Firefighters faced blizzard conditions and limited phone service while neighbors rushed to aid, with the wind keeping flames from spreading to other structures.
