Thomas J. Welch, 57, a Nebraska native who prospected on Deer creeks and Boulder, died in Livingston after a dynamite explosion at Mendenhall creek. His body returned to town for Catholic services led by Rev. Fr. Drolet, with pallbearers named, no known relatives. he had lived at the Gook hotel nine years and worked at the Belle mine in the Crazies during summers.

Hit And Run Driver Given Pen Sentence
R A Kohler a 35 year old smelter machinist was jailed for four to eight years for manslaughter in a hit and run. He struck and killed William Bruce early Sunday, fled the scene, and later pleaded guilty before Judge W H Meigs as police recovered his blood stained car.
