Rural Kids Turn Out In Force For Basketball
Thirty seven rural high school boys gathered in the gym for a two hour session last Sunday extending the weekly practice. Coaches McCauley Cameron Stokke MacDonald directed grades from 1st to 8th with drills, scrimmages, and supervision as cheerleaders performed on the sidelines and parents watched. Dr Standish provided physical checkups before the final practice, and organizers hope snowy weather won’t reduce turnout.

Jan Fraser Wins Grand Champion at Golden Spike Livestock Show
Janet Fraser of Reed Point Montana captured the junior grand champion with her Hereford steer Pejce at the 1956 Golden Spike National Livestock Show in Ogden Utah. The winning animal sold to Hotel Utah for 25 cents a pound, higher than last year, as 4H projects and breeding stock drew wide praise. Carroll Walton of Akron Colorado showed the reserve champion steer bringing 85 cents a pound.

Lions Governor Speaks at Miami Convention Banquet
Hugo Golfi of Red Lodge district 37A Lions International explained district setup and highlighted the Miami convention. He noted district 37 includes Alberta Canada Montana with four sub districts and 37A eastern Montana from Havre to West Yellowstone. About 50 000 attended the convention. the flag ceremony featured national flags with Lions clubs presented by country youths and sailors, as a band played each nation’s anthem.
