Billings Man Fatally Shot in Hunting Accident
George Francis Delisle, 52, of 2107 Spruce Street, was fatally wounded near evenilee Creek seven miles northeast of Billings in a hunting accident at about 7:30 am. He died shortly after at St Vincent hospital. The incident involved Delisle’s hunting partner Russell Hein who tripped causing his borrowed shotgun to discharge twice, striking Delisle. Capt Randall L Wilson led the investigation.

Mrs. Mary Forsythe Dies In Bozeman
Mrs. Mary Forsythe a 90 year old former Sweet Grass county resident died November 27 at East Gallatin Sanitarium Bozeman after a six month illness. Funeral services were held at Melville Lutheran church with Rev. Lyle Onstad officiating. Interment followed at Melville cemetery. Surviving are three sons Fred Andrew and Evans Forsythe a daughter Mrs F Schweitering and many grandchildren and great grandchildren plus siblings and a sister. She was born in Rushford Minnesota July 12 1862 and lived in Big Timber Melville Billings Bridger Canyon. She was member of Melville Lutheran church Melville Ladies Aid Eastern Star and Sweet Grass Pioneer Society.

Big Timber Ends Bonded Indebtedness After 42 Years
Mayor Harold Roe announced that Big Timber has no bonded indebtedness after final payment on waterworks bonds was made on December 1. Historic notes recall $40 000 bonds issued in 1907 for a city waterworks, refinancing in 1919 and 1927, a 1934 authorization for $140 000, a WPA grant of $12 000, and refinancings through 1946. The city now holds a fully paid, modern water system in a decade of favorable finances.

Helena Courier reports Helena hosts the Montana American Legion mid winter conference with National Commander Lewis K. Gough outlining a 10 point program to end the Korean war stalemate. He urges minimum terms for a possible truce and steps to strengthen military victory including re arming South Korea and forming a Pacific defense pact. Gough also calls for a clear Asia policy and military control of the war, bombing enemy bases north of the Yalu and blockading the China coast.
