Louis Mysse argues Harry Truman cannot teach constitutional life or fair play after leaving the White House. He blasts Truman and his allies as corrupt and demands they be removed, calling for a long rest away from power.
Eleven Scouts from troop 21 joined Bo Clark on a three day expedition to Blacktail Lake in the Boulder mountains. They rode 13 saddle horses and three pack horses with gear, leaving via Davis Creek and returning after midday Saturday. Scoutmaster Palmer Finsvik accompanied them as Bo Clark cooked pancakes for two mornings.
Sheriff Walter Osborne of Breckenridge SD reports the accidental death in Indiana of Wesley Calfee 17 who worked near town this spring. Calfee’s body bore the name Porter Walker a cesspool cleaner who had worked here with him and left the area with him. Authorities seek relatives and ask anyone with information to contact the sheriff.
The 4-H club congress in Bozeman this week lists Vera Lowe with style review Dolores Yost judging foods Mary Peterson judging clothing Mavis Murray judging beef Noreda Maitland judging dairy cattle David Drivdahl judging sheep and Raymond Forster judging hogs Leader Mrs Ward Bruffey accompanied the group. Places remain to be determined.
Mrs. Morris Tronrud accompanied her twin nephews Jimmy and Jerry Kepler to Butte for a railway trip home to Cokeville Wyoming. They arrived in June with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kepler and stayed to help on the Tronrud ranch through the summer.
The Sweet Grass County High School Sheepherders opened 1952 football practices Monday under lights at the rodeo grounds. Coaches Anderson and Snyder plan evening sessions to match district peers. Thirty to a thousand players signed up as they begin conditioning and learn the new play system. First home game Sept 12 against Lovell, with several away games to follow including Billings Central and Roundup.
Montana Republicans adopted a platform promising honesty integrity and economy in government and urged electing state and national leaders to give government back to the people. Delegates backed Rex Hibbs script and called for open government, funding for public safety health education welfare and highways with efficient use of highway tax dollars.
Helena Aug 25 United States Senator Zales N Ecton keynoting the Republican state platform convention termed Adlai Stevenson a doomed fly in the Truman spider web and urged election of Republican congressmen to support Eisenhower's program. He cited Rankin and O Ewart as vital to Montana and national aims plus a push to oust Trumanism. Aronson pledged a business oriented government and rejected gossip or promises.
Mrs Charles Groff and her son David departed Billings by plane for Allentown Pennsylvania after visiting August with her sister Mrs Roy Snyder and family in Big Timber. Mrs Snyder drove them to the airport this morning.
Three local fishermen Rasmus Boe Dr J D Herries and Sam Langhus flew to Lac La Ronge Sask Canada for two days of record pike angling returning with 90 pounds of fillets The trip included stops at Malta Swift Current and Prince Albert They traveled 700 air miles each way catching up to 13 pounds per fish and observed a government fish processing line sending tens of tons to markets in the US and Canada
The Lutheran parish hall hosted a farewell for Rev E I E Tollefson, his wife, and children Sigrid and Stuart after eight years with the Big Timber congregation. Duane was absent in Seattle. Gifts from local aids were presented as tributes, with music and refreshments marking the send-off.
Sweet Grass high school sophomore Carol Buchli earned the national high school all around cowgirl title at the National High School Rodeo in Augusta August 22 to 24. She rode Bucklis horses King Trumpet and Speedy Hancock, won a $400 saddle, a Hereford heifer, belt buckle and trophy, and also placed third in cow cutting.
Helena report outlines a 12 percent rise in social security payments effective September 1952. Old age, survivor, and veterans credits will adjust automatically with September checks. Workers over 65 may earn up to 75 dollars monthly without losing benefits, while 75 and older retain eligibility regardless of earnings.
Dr and Mrs L H Townsend and Bill plan to depart this Sunday for Cooke City for a week long fishing vacation.
Six year old Tully Swanberg son of Mr and Mrs Raymond Rudd of Big Timber escaped with severe abrasions to his elbows knees and chest after dashing into a car at Park and Ninth streets in Livingston The driver Elmer R Forkner of Missouri was traveling about 15 miles per hour Two other boys were with Swanberg who was visiting grandparents at 120 North Washington street He was taken to Lott hospital and returned to Big Timber the next morning with no fractures
About 150 relatives attended the Solbergs silver wedding anniversary open house at their Big Timber home. Anton Solberg and Louise LaBree were married in Billings on August 20, 1927. The couple ranched in Sweet Grass county, first at the Franklin ranch near Melville, then on the Ten Mile south fork before retiring a year ago to their present residence.
County Agent F B Peterson outlines entries due by Friday noon and judging starting at 1 pm. Judges include Oscar Tretsven from Bozeman, Art Shaw Bozeman agronomy, Lucille Nelson from Stillwater County for foods and clothing. Friday features style revue, showmanship, and band music. Saturday offers tractor driving, gymkhana events, races, and square dance exhibition. Auction sale for 4H and FFA members starts Saturday at 8 pm with Grey Cliff Hillbillies and accordion numbers before.
Funeral rites for Oscar A Fallang 77, a Spanish American War veteran and Sweet Grass county pioneer, were held at Big Timber Lutheran Church. He died Tuesday at Ft Harrison veterans hospital after a cancer illness. Burial was in Mountain View. Fallang, born December 28 1874 in Wisconsin, long served as Sweet Grass county sheriff and later farmed near Glasston. His life included service in the first Montana Volunteers and the Manila campaign.

Daniel C. Fahlgren of Big Timber Montana has been promoted to sergeant while serving with the 45th Infantry Division in Korea. He joined the army in October 1950 and serves as a medical aidman with Medical Company 179th Infantry. He has earned the Army of Occupation Medal for Japan Korea and United Nations Service Ribbon as well as the Combat Medical Badge.
Washington official Chapman announced a 10 added hunting days for all flyways due to improved northern breeding grounds. Central flyway states including Montana will have a 60 day season with set bag limits and hours from sunrise to sunset. Open dates vary by state with no snow goose season in several counties and specific Canada and white fronted goose limits.
