Mr and Mrs G Borgman of Vancouver Washington visited the Robert Cosgriff ranch last week after nearly 50 years away. Borgman recalls 1896 homestead with digout huts along Otter Creek and a drought era causing hunger. He recounts a grave across the creek and a ewe milked infant.

Funeral services were held for Charles I Campbell 56 in Big Timber after a California auto crash. He was a highway bridge foreman with the California division of highways and died when his light truck fell 500 feet from a Monterey area cliff. He is survived by his widow two daughters and several relatives. The body was sent to Great Falls for cremation and interment.

Lorraine Laubach and Henry J. Valgamore wed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in a 4 PM ceremony officiated by Rev. Forrest Clark. Attendants included sisters Phyllis Laubach, Myrtle Laubach, and Lois Valgamore with Carl Walton as best man. The reception followed for about 100 guests with garden flowers, a three tier cake, and music by Donna Hultberg. The bride, a Park County High School graduate, works for Montana Power. groom, Sweet Grass high School alum, served 20 months overseas in Japan and Korea. They will reside at 115 North Fifth after August 23.

Fire spotted from air near Hellroaring ranger station
A small fire was spotted Tuesday morning a mile and a half north of the Hellroaring ranger station between Horse and Brundage creeks. Forest Ranger Alban Roemer said smokejumpers from West Yellowstone were dispatched to the scene. The fire burned in heavy timber but was expected to be under control with quick action.

Gas Rate Increases Allowed For Montana Utilities
Montana State authorities approved higher rates for most telephone and gas users, effective September 1. Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. gains about 595 400 a year on a request of 916 000, with about 75 cents more monthly for one party home phones. Montana Power Co. adds net 697 000, citing a typical residential gas bill rise of around 30 percent. taxes account for over half of the total increase. This marks Montana Power’s first general gas rate rise since 1931.

Mrs Janet Marie Marsh a 20 year old Livingston resident died from a fractured skull after a car carrying her and Robert Marsh crashed into the bridge’s right side about 6 am.
