Jackpot roping kicks off five event series at Big Timber
The first of five steel jackpots drew about 20 teams Friday at Big Timber fairgrounds. Winners were Loren Brewer and Don Todd for first place, Dave Bjordal and Tom Larson second. Beginning pupils entering first grade this fall must register at the Grade School on Friday August 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. New pupils in other grades may also register then. To enter first grade a child must be six by October 15 and parents should bring birth certificates and immunization dates for registration.
Sweet Grass County High drops wrestling due to cost and travel
The school board voted to discontinue wrestling at SGHS because new conference alignment makes travel costly and time consuming. About 15 boys participated annually with little gate income, and no nearby regular conference peers sponsor wrestling, risking a rekindled program.
