The panel also urged a 3 million start for a three year building program outside Washington, totaling 70 million cost with 47 million contracts and 23 million direct appropriation.

Last Butte explosion survivor Alfred Jackson dies at 74
Alfred Jackson, 74, one of four firemen who survived the Jan 15 1895 big explosion that killed 57 and injured 300, died at his Columbia Gardens home. Born in Sweden he lived 50 years in Montana and spent decades at the Columbia Gardens steam plant after work with the Butte Street Railway. The surviving fireman now is Nee Flannery of Great Falls. The Kenyon-Connell warehouse fire prompted the blast report by Officer J H Steinborn.
