Rudolph Egeland Wins $1000 Livingston Trout Derby
In Livingston Montana Rudolph Egeland a Northern Pacific machinist won the $1000 prize for a seven and a half pound Loch Leven trout caught Sunday in a derby that drew over 2400 participants. His wife Mrs Lois Smith presented the check and shared in the celebration at a barbecue at the civic center. The event featured many prizes including for the oldest and youngest competitors and a largest woman’s catch.

He noted good potential and the possibility of federal funds, with plans this year for road construction runway rolling, a separate telephone line, and field water. Palomino Show Set for Livingston August 17
The Montana Palomino Exhibit or Association stages its fourth annual horse show at the Livingston rodeo grounds on Sunday August 17. Halter classes start at 9 30 am and performance classes at 2 pm with an 8 pm Palomino auction. Bill Hagen will announce and auctioneer, Claude Bolack will judge, LeRoy Wardlow will ringmaster. General admission 1 dollar, grandstand seats 1 dollar extra.

Odom Sets New Round the World Flight Record
Endurance flyer William P. Odom landed in Chicago to claim a new solo round the world record of 73 hours 5 minutes 11 seconds. He nearly crashed after a 1 hour 40 minute sleep break during the trek from Anchorage to Fargo and noted his automatic pilot failed near Calcutta. The flight bested Wiley Post and earlier record climbs, wrapping up in Chicago before a cheering crowd of about 10 000.

Recover Bodies of Drowning Victims at Yellowstone
Park Superintendent Edmund Rogers reported rangers have recovered the bodies of Jerry Monihan of Moose Wyoming and Jacob W Gotwall of Los Angeles who drowned at Lewis Lake on August 3. Rangers Anderson and Adams found Monihan near the shore as a search began. Gotwall’s body was found about 200 feet from the west shore near an inlet from Shoshone Lake.
