Brakeman Dies After Uncoupling Engine on Freight Train
Asa McLaughlin a brakeman on the Northern Pacific was killed instantly last Tuesday morning east of Greycliff. The extra westbound freight was slowing to take water when he fell between the box car and engine during uncoupling. Coroner Mulkern held an inquest. McLaughlin unmarried. mother and sister in Missoula arranged shipment to Anoka Minnesota. Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen Livingston arranged funeral details.

Family Fight Militia at Cameron Dam Sparks Wounds
Bloodshed erupted at Cameron dam in Sawyer County as a clash between the Dietz family and six Wisconsin militiamen led by Sheriff Gylland left Clarence Dietz and a militiaman wounded. The two sides exchanged heavy fire for over an hour with about 150 shots fired. Militia retreated for medical aid and oversight, while authorities prepared for further action.
