Inspectors Praise Co C Montana National Guard Dignity
Adjutant General A M Alderson and Major Torrey inspected Company C on Saturday. There were 43 officers and men, 96 4 percent of enrollment, many new recruits, and the unit received high praise. Corporal Ernest Patterson won a Colt six shooter prize for securing the most recruits. Lieut Rice would have won but delayed swearing in a recruit. An annual encampment is planned at Fort Ellis in September. Co E of Livingston may disband due to labor influence. ten men from each company will go to Helena in July for target practice to form a regimental team for Sea Girt national shoot.

Epidemic Spinal Meningitis Strikes Local Vicinity
The Dreaded disease cerebro spinal meningitis claims two victims within a day in the area and warnings stretch to Livingston. Dana Curtis dies at the Nick Curtis place after pleurisy symptoms progressed, while Van West, 14, succumbs at his W. P. Franklin ranch. A 10 year old daughter of John Muncaster and a 20 year old son also fall ill in Livingston, prompting community sympathy.

Garcelon Sentenced to Ten Years for Manslaughter
George Garcelon was found guilty of manslaughter in Bozeman for the murder of Harry Corwin and received a ten year penitentiary sentence. Testimony shows a feud over Garcelon’s attention to Mrs. Corwin and her daughter, culminating in a deadly gunfight after Corwin threatened him with a knife. Several witnesses noted Garcelon had warned he might need to kill a man in Bozeman before his trouble would end.

Dynamite Stolen From Montana Trading Co Powder House
About a year ago 42 sticks were stolen from the powder house near the flour mill. Geo Wadsworth found 21 sticks among old cans and rubbish, then Norman Hale located the remaining 21 sticks. Police report no clue to the thieves prior to the discovery. The note ends with an ad for Farmers Weekly Dispatch and Daily St Paul Dispatch subscriptions.
