Mining men opposed as suspension hindered development and patenting while non resident owners profited. Provisions allegedly crowded records with hearsay claims and driven prospectors from camps.
The Press Claims Company of Washington DC awards $100 monthly to the inventor of the most meritorious device who may seek a patent through its newspaper network. Three names precede this month: C L Jordan Pellahatchie MS J H Rogers Philadelphia and R C DeVault Philadelphia. DeVault’s winning device for the month is a car fender noted for simple construction and practical value. Judge Henry issued an order fixing the terms of court in the Sixth judicial district covering Park Sweet Grass and Carbon counties. Park schedules include April May June and January terms. Sweet Grass holds May August November and February terms. Carbon terms occur July November February and April.
A Washington special reports the chief of the bureau of animal industry recommends allowing Mexican cattle into the United States under strict rules to curb higher beef prices. Secretary Morton issues a special order permitting entry through California Texas and Texas ports with required inspection and rail or boat shipment for immediate slaughter beginning May 1 1893.

Mineral land commissioners named for Helena include Edward H. Movious Miles Cavan augh and Lyman E. Barnes. Missoula district names William Harrison Frank M. Leonard and William V. Hopkins. Bozeman district selects James A. Johnson and Bishop P. B. Blackwell. Coeur d'Alene Idaho district adds Addison A. Crane Wallace McLaurin and Albert J. Pearson.
