Bozeman police chased slim clues after burglars broke into the Barer Fur Co warehouse early today and stole skunk hides valued over 1000 dollars. Approximately 500 hides remained in the warehouse as the thieves used the firm’s own truck to flee. The truck was located near U S Highway 10 north of Bozeman. Proprietor Jacob Barer offered a 100 dollar reward for information leading to arrests.

Helena Mont April 9 Assistant State Game Warden Jack Carney said elk in the Gallatin Yellowstone park herd total approximately 2200. Deputies and park attaches reported the herd wintered well and is in excellent condition. Tomorrow the annual count of the north Yellowstone elk herd in Gardiner will begin. that herd is estimated at about 9000 animals.

Cheerful outlook for farm prosperity
Washington April 14 sustained farm prosperity is forecast for the coming months by the department of agriculture in its April review. Tongue River Project Funds Assured for Irrigation Work
Helena April 12 W H Walsh head of the state public works administration said the federal government has allocated 1 200 000 to the Tongue river irrigation project in Custer and Powder River counties Montana. Of the total for construction 660 000 comes as a loan and 540 000 as a grant. The water conservation board will begin final plans and specifications to start work within weeks. The earth filled dam will impound 65 000 acre feet to irrigate 31 000 acres and the dam and canal system should be finished in 12 to 14 months.
