Cattle receipts across twelve markets totaled about 280000 head, roughly 20000 more than the prior week, the largest weekly total of the season. Los Angeles showed stronger demand and steady to higher prices on steers and cows, with calves and replacement stock in demand. top steer price near 15.50 and averages around 15.00 for 1120 lb cattle. Hogs held to a ceiling fixed by the market with good to choice weights around 15. The week saw further declines for sheep and lambs, with choice lambs around 13.50 to 19, and shorn ewes selling 3.50 to 4.00.
