The Wyoming governor urges a statewide Good Roads Day on September 8 1918. The proclamation calls for citizens in Missouri and Arkansas to join efforts, but focuses on Wyoming road improvement through voluntary work and organizational support from authorities and business groups.
Walter Bruce and Jesse Stull moved to Cottonwood last week to establish new ranches and begin haying. They bring prior farming experience, own horses and wagons, and expect to cut about twenty five tons this year with new machinery. Munn Vickrey delivered a large freight load to the Big Piney Mercantile brick yard at the Durnford brick yard.
A group led by D. A. Baum of Baum Iron Works Omaha along with Jack Baum Eli Schwalbe G F Whitman and Clint Kelly departed for the upper Green River Big and Little Grovon ts to hunt elk bear and mountain sheep. They expect to remain until they reach the hunting limit with licensed guides and local familiarity ahead.
Last Friday Mr. and Mrs. Davison with their children left Spur ranch on a mooring to California for the winter. They are accompanied by Mr. Davison and Janes Penninger through Evanston on business. Mrs. Davison has been ill and the family is well known in the area.
Four thousand acre cattle ranch estate sale near Midway post office Wyoming. Lands belong to the estate of Rod Thornton. Prospective buyers are invited to inspect and purchase. For details contact Stephen Hulse Daniel Wyoming or George Thornton Midway Wyoming.
George Thornton now manages the Grigg coal mine and spoke of a near fatal roof collapse last Wednesday. He had warned of unsafe roof conditions and begun timbering and improvements. The cave damaged tools, opened a new coal vein, and will shift operations to the wider vein while continuing coal supply for a lime kiln bound for fifty to sixty tons per burn.

Joan Waricil and sons travel to Opal to purchase a new J. I Cane thresher and will start threshing at Frank Pow eroys ranch on Fontenelle. The device is a standard make 28 inch cylinder 1 horsepower and will thresh many loads daily. Strong crops of oats and barley in Green River valley spur more farming and larger acreage this year. Mr Wardell and sons, seasoned ranchers with grain to thresh, join the coming harvest. The improved machinery and rising acreage mark the area as a leading grain region.
Citizens are urged to bring garden and field samples to town for exhibition in local business houses to prove what can be produced in the valley. The Mercantile store displays a 16 inch cabbage from North Piney by Henry Budd along with oats barley rye and alfalfa. The bank holds time samples proving valley credit and reports of fine crops of grain and potatoes around Piney.
