Veterans Affairs clarifies US eligibility for Canadian war gratuity
Canadian Department of Veterans Affairs states the gratuity applies only to World War II veterans and not a new law. Most eligible Americans have claimed it, with a few hundred still applying through the service branches. A separate Re-establishment Credit is available for veterans in Canada, usable for Veterans Insurance premiums by US residents. application urged before February 20, 1951.
