Alberta Hancock Killed In Auto Accident Sunday

Sad notice from Craig Colorado reports the death of Alberta Bradley-Hancock who died in a car crash returning from a dance. Eight passengers were in the car, seven died. services were held in Pinedale with Rev George E Guild officiating and burial in Pinedale cemetery. Survived by husband and her parents Ole and Mrs. Bradley and brother Joseph.

Governor names seven man Wyoming world fair study commission

Governor Leslie A. Miller appoints John A. Loomis of Cheyenne as chairman of a three seven man commission to study Wyoming participation in the 1939 world fairs in San Francisco and New York. The group will assess advisability and funding needs and report to the 1939 state legislature. Ex officio member Charles Stafford will help lead the commission.

Western Cattle Marketings Fall Season of 1939

Western cattle marketings from 17 western states August to December 1937 are forecast to be about 5 percent below 1936 levels, totaling roughly 330000 head fewer. Compared with 1935, shipments would be about 3 percent higher, and about 12 percent above the 10-year 1925-1934 average, with drought history in the Northern Great Plains cited as a cause for the fall reduction.

Wyoming coal may produce hydrogen

Soft coal from western Wyoming could supply cheap gas fuel if a commercial extraction process is perfected. Dr. Lloyd Reyerson of the University of Minnesota demonstrated in Minneapolis that Wyoming coal yields 10 000 to 20 000 cubic feet of gas per ton and produces water gas 60 percent hydrogen. Experiments continuing through next presummer aim to scale to a commercial unit.

Ernest J. Goppert A Wyoming Legislator and Attorney

Ernest J. Goppert of Cody Wyoming rose to state prominence through three terms in the Wyoming Legislature and 1933 Minority Floor Leadership. A Kansas native born 1893, he served in the Mexican border conflict and World War I, later practice as a county attorney and member of veterans groups. He married Estella Butcher in 1921 and has two children Marion and Ernest J.

Sublette County Remains Closed to Big Game Hunting

Local sportsmen protest after the State Game and Fish Commission restricted big game hunting to a small part of Sublette County in Hoback basin for the 1937 season. A petition with many signatures was headed to Pinedale to press reopening of the county to hunting.

Prominent Wyoming Lawyer Goppert Listed in Fraternal Circles

Mr. Goppert, a vice president of the Wyoming State Bar Association, is described as a widely known attorney and member of Master Shoshone Lodge No. 21 A F and A M, an Odd Fellow, an Eagle and a Knight of Pythias. He belongs to Park County and Big Horn Basin bar associations, and has been admitted to practice before Kansas, Wyoming Supreme Courts, the District of Columbia and the U S Supreme Court.

Demand for beef could rise as feed costs fall, with better finished stock expected next year. Prices for hay and corn decline pressuring feeders while widespread beef prices reflect broader economic costs.
