1944 Agriculture Forecasts Record U S Crop Output
The Agriculture Department projects 1944 crops at a new high, 4 percent above 1943 and 5 percent over the 1933 record, with total food production up 29 percent over prewar levels. Wheat leads with a near billion-bushel harvest, corn tops 3.1 billion, and fruit, vegetables, and meats show substantial gains amid wartime demand.
