Harry Conners and the Misses Willoughby attended the basket supper and dance at the Bentley school house Saturday night. Walter Ball and Leonard Lind back brought beef for F. D. Ball. Musings on cattle work appear as Ludwig Lindback and Joe Sage herding at Ludwig Lindback’s Tuesday. Mrs Sage returned home Friday after a week in Maryleton and Piney. A dance is planned at Harry Munn’s on Saturday evening October 6.

Local men bound to district court in cattle rustling case
Deputy Sheriff Everett Smith and deputies detained Thos Connor and Ralph Connor after finding four calves at the Connor ranch and freeing one that led to the mother cow belonging to Jas Mickelson. The Connors waived examination and were bound over. Ralph Connor’s bond was posted by C G Jewett. The case highlights cattle rustling concerns in Green River Valley. Green River Valley Chapter met at Budd Hall on Sunday September 30. Reports from membership and work committees were read and new business approved including depositing the war fund to Wm G McAdoo treasurer Red Cross War Fund, endorsing a 25 percent grant for Drive money, appointing Rev A G Fawkes and L D Tanner as auditing committee, accepting Budd Hall for relief work and meetings, and setting each Wednesday at 2 PM for Red Cross activities.

Albert Kunze has taken charge of the Big Piney Billiard Parlor and plans interior changes. He aims to provide a social center and handle barbering services. Telegraph stock report from Omaha lists receipts for cattle normal in South Omaha Nebraska on 10 4 17. Best beef and heavy fleshy feeders rise 25 cents for next week while other steers and heavy fat cows gain 50 cents. Prices cover packer, feeder, and butcher grades with ranges from 7 to 14 dollars per hundredweight. Look for lower runs next week but continued demand. Union Stock Yards Co.
