Many Meat Rations Become Point Free October 1
OPA Administrator Chester Bowles announced that many meat rations will become point free on October 1 for beef veal and lamb including lower grades and other cuts. Four points per pound will be allowed for fats. canned fish pairs reduced. Ration totals drop from 115 to 148 pounds per person per quarter due to higher marketings of range fell cattle. Sugar butter fats oats higher grade meats pork and auto related items remain rationed.

Wyoming hit 93 percent of Sept. bond quota early month
A. E Wilde of the Wyoming War Finance Committee announced Wyoming reached 93 percent of its September bond quota of 700 thousand with sales totaling 649 191.50 in the first half of September. Six counties exceeded 100 percent including Yellowstone Park 220 percent and Sheridan 164 percent.

Rhodes Scholarships Interrupted by War to Be Resumed
Laramie UWNS reports Rhodes scholarships interrupted by the 1939 war will resume in 1946 once draft law changes allow elections. Dean H. Reehard of the University of Wyoming chairs the Wyoming election committee. A limited number of war service Rhodes scholarships will also be offered to men aged 19 to 45 who have served at least one year in war. Thirty two war service scholarships will be awarded annually for two or possibly three years. A regulations memorandum and application form are in preparation, with distribution possible soon from Dr. Frank Aydeelotte at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton. The Saturday fair featured livestock, vegetables, and other exhibits. a complete list of winners will appear next week.

Funeral Services Held for Ralph V. Newcomb
Impressive funeral services were conducted last Saturday at Community church for Ralph V. Newcomb of Arlington Virginia who died in Oregon last week. Rev B Crane of Green River officiated with music by Mesdames Prernick Covey and accompanist. Pallbearers included Ross Meek Vern Meek Gey Moffat Sylvester Griggs Wm Carr and John Sievens. Interment followed in the family plot on the F D Ball Sr ranch at Cottonwood. Tanner Mortuary in charge.

RFC issues booklet on sale of government surplus property
The Reconstruction Finance Corporation published an informative booklet titled How to Do Business With RFC listing about 3,000 government owned surplus items. The Omaha RFC Agency assistant manager Gordon T. Burke says the range includes swingsiters industrial tools equipment chemicals and other materials and invites individuals and firms to contact RFC in Omaha Nebraska for purchases and inquiries.

Navy Men Urged to Re enlist in Regular Navy
Navy recruiting chief announces that men aged 17 to 30 with prior naval service should apply for re enlistment in the Regular Navy. Reenlistees gain 90 days service credit in many cases at their previous rank and may receive 30 extra days leave. Veterans from other armed forces may also enlist and will be paid according to their length of service. Recruiting station is at 2000 Capital Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Sugar and meat stamp changes for 1845 calendar
The notice outlines sugar stamp No 38 valid for five pounds of sugar through December 31, 1845, while stamp No 29 is bypassed. Red meat stamps R-1 to V-1 expire October 1. V-2 to Z-2 valid after September 30, with meat clears giving four red points per pound of used kitchen fat in exchange. Airplane shoe stamps Nos. 1–4 in Book Three remain valid indefinitely.
Funeral Services Held in Tenedale for Mrs Will Alexander
Funeral services for Mrs. William Alexander of Cota Wyoming, 61, who died September 30 after a long illness, were conducted at the Community Hall in Pinedale. A longtime Upper Valley resident, she came here in 1907 with her family. Bearers included Robert Lopier, Bert Clark, Carl Jorgensen, Lessi Mocroft, Fred Oledius, and Pat Dew. Interment was in Pinedale Cemetery.
