Origin of the Tanker from 1880s Vessel Innovations
The Wall Street Journal notes Wilhelm Riedemann, a Prussian shipowner, moved from water tanks to petroleum transport by converting ships. He designed an iron hull tanker with eight bulkheaded compartments, leading to the first modern tanker Glueckauf launched in 1886 in England. By 1900s, about 400 such vessels sailed and 58 more were under construction.

Local Men Accused of Killing Livestock
Ralph Colburn of Marbleton was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Mills for killing livestock. James Woods was later arrested on the same charge after Colburn said they hunted Saturday and a man on a white horse fired at them. The cow, owned by Spur, was found with an ear cut and bullet wounds. Both men waived trial and were bound over to district court on $2,000 bonds.

A snow fell Sunday night as P. W. Conwell moved his cattle to Baker ranch pasture. Clare Stacy returned from Calvin Oklahoma after his father’s death on October 29. Mrs. Ed Sargent and Ruth visited from Beaver country on Horse Creek. Roy Edwards works for Rob Houston for a few days. Jack Gumphrey traveled to Marbleton last week. Clarence Jones, hurt at the saw mill, is now able to get out and visited the post office. Mt Circle ladies met at the Bentley home with a luncheon and readings. They will be hosted by Mrs. Ed Sargent on November 19.

Hugh Guthrie born December 21 1854 in Ontario Canada died November 21 1916 in Wyoming. He married Mary Dochler in 1892. they had Marie and Fred. He moved to Cottonwood Wyoming in 1908. Survived by widow son daughter and a brother in Nebraska. Funeral held at Congregational Church Big Piney November 28 with Rev. Geo F Wenrich. Burial Piney Cemetery.
