Word this week from Charlie Lackey says the Keystone No. 5 field drilling machine inspected at Casper has been shipped. The machine will be used to prospect and develop the Dry Piney head property to a depth of 2,500 feet. Articles of incorporation of the Cretaceous Oil Co. were mailed to the secretary of state this week.
Marbleton notes report Elmer Condon and Jim Fleming halted overnight en route to Kemmerer after freight. George Linn hosted J. E. Roberts and wife Sunday night. Lester Stacy visited Marbleton Sunday. Margaret Tippet left Tuesday for home at Cora. Orpha Fields and Ira Baldwin had Sunday dinner at Steve Baldwin's. Mrs. Stacy returned from Kemmerer after visits. Chas. Budd traveled to Kemmerer and back on business. Wesley Vickrey arranged a move for Bert Atwood & Co. to relocate his house near his business site.
Fifth Sunday after Easter services listed with times for Sunday School worship and evening prayer. Ascension day June 1 and weekday services noted. Ladies' Guild meeting at 2 30 Thursday. Examiner on hand with latest magazines.
The second annual commencement exercises at the Congregational church drew praise for all aspects. Graduates Miss Orpha Fields and Miss Hildur Swanstrom delivered a peace and preparedness oration and the American Schools valedictory respectively. Dr. J E Butterworth of the University of Wyoming spoke on child handling and school efficiency. Music included a piano solo, vocal solo, violin obligato, and two quartet numbers, with Rev Reader giving the invocation and benediction. A reception at the Mickelson home followed.
A rumor has circulated that G. W. Heitz and Arch Jones plan a Piney grocery store. Heitz acknowledged some foundation to the rumor and hinted a new store building could be erected if the venture proceeds.
The Reardon and O'Neil dispute over cow ownership was heard in district court this week with the cow awarded to O'Neil again. Reardon plans to appeal to the supreme court. Witnesses included T. D. O'Neil, F. A. Fear, C. F. McIlvain, and W. Cc. Yose.
North & Robinson Co. announces temporary location at Everett Livery Barn 2219 Washington Ave while seeking a permanent site. They offer eighteen stallions aged one to five years including Percheron Belgian and Shire breeds with two additional five year old coach stallions. Draught stallions expected to weigh 1800 to 2200 pounds and several colts available for range breeding. Prospective buyers invited to view stock with favorable prices. Communications addressed care of Marion Hotel Ogden Utah.
John C Budd Henry L Budd Grover Trittipp Nels Christen sen and A F Atwood traveled to Salt Lake City for C L Mills funeral services. Interment followed Saturday at Mt Olivet Cemetery with many relatives friends local Woodmen officers and a large Salt Lake Woodmen turnout.
The High School hosted a reception for the senior graduates at the teachers’ home last Tuesday evening. A pleasant evening of jokes and future-life reveals followed with toasts from each class and a senior reply. After commencement exercises a reception honored Dr Butlerworth with students, parents, trustees, teachers, and friends present. Examinations were completed in the grades last week and in the High School this week.
Robert Martin and Fred Jordan of Bronx completed a deal in Kemmerer city. Martin buys Jordan’s 640 acre ranch and attic for 6 dollars per acre. Jordan also sells 16 head of cattle for 800 dollars. The Jordans plan to move to Wisconsin or the South due to Mrs. Jordan’s health.
Midway residents report friendly visits with Mr and Mrs Dave Haddenham and others at the McGinnis home. The Bartletts moved to La Barge on their ranch with son Kenneth. A branding bee occurred at Midway and Harry Taylor joined the Home ranch on Dry Piney. Fred Bailey visited the post office Saturday while Ira Bailey hauled freight and George Haddenham and his little son arrived from Opal with a freight load for Frank Burney.
Sunday School held every Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday services every other week at 11 a.m. Choir practice Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rev. D. D. Reese serves as pastor.
