Protein diet may cut calf crop in cattle study
Preliminary results from USDA Beltsville experiments show low protein in cattle feed lowers calf numbers and delays calving. Tests compare very low protein to recommended levels in Milking Shorthorns crossed with Hereford, with lighter weaning weights and extended intervals between births noted.
