Corder Gil Rig Burned Saturday Destroying Oil Well Rig
A gas explosion from overflowed fuel oil ignited the Corder oil well complex twelve miles west of town. The derrick and rig were destroyed within minutes, with a $10,000 loss. Drillers Frank Murphy and Charley Nelson saved the hole by dropping tools and using a wrench as a cover. fuel oil burned for 24 hours. Frank Murphy departs for Casper to load a Parkerburg.

The Evanston land office reports a letter from the General Land Office restoring certain Dry Piney district lands to filing under Section 13 of the leasing act. Effective May 22, 1926, up to 10 a.m., applicants may file for entry with a drawing if conflicts arise. tracts listed include surveyed and unsurveyed blocks in Townships 29 and 28 North, Ranges 113 and 118 West. Swedish Royalty to Tour Wyoming in July
Crown Prince Oscar Frederick William Olaf Gustav Adolphe and Crown Princess Louise Mountbatten will visit Wyoming in early July as part of a U S tour. The party of about twenty five travels from Montana to Rock Springs, with stops for Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole. Congressman Winters arranged the Wyoming stop with Sweden’s minister, and officials plan a Jackson Hole visit and Gros Ventre slide viewing before continuing to Rock Springs.

Prospects for Road Along Green River Opening Soon
A Green River group led by County Commissioner I. B. Peters and including Mayor Wm. Evers and other officials surveyed the west side of the Green River to Fontenelle for a proposed road to the LaBarge Oil Field. A two day survey followed with County Engineer Hudman and others hoping to secure an early road opening benefiting Green River and Sweetwater County.

Wyoming Tests Introduced for Grades Six to Eight
Wyoming educational authorities introduced the objective educational test the first time in the nation. Tragic Death of Wm H Pape in Soda Springs Idaho
William H Pape of Daniel Idaho died after an officer shot him in his hotel room at Soda Springs He had traveled there with his son for surgery and treatment His death follows a violent confrontation with the hotel clerk and the town marshal He was born in Bloomington Illinois in 1869 moved to Daniel in 1900 married Alice Coyte in 1894 He leaves three sons a brother Fred and other relatives The funeral was held in Daniel with Masonic rites and burial in Daniel cemetery The community extends sympathy to the bereaved family
