Artist Guild Meets Awards Essay Prizes

The Artist's Guild held their first year meeting April 19 at Sargent's inn with President Francis Clark hosting. Six prizes were awarded for essays and a poem about Sublette County history, with Jean Hale and Ted Carson winning first prizes and other students receiving second and honorable mentions.

Edythe Fear and George Earp wed in a quiet Monday ceremony at St Patrick's Church with relatives present. The couple, both of Big Piney, will reside in a newly built home in Big Piney. Tracks in Snow Point to South Pass Retreat

Commercial Club Doings In Big Piney Discuss Public Lands

The Big Piney Commercial Club met last Thursday to debate public lands disposal and retention. The land committee, with Joe L. Budd, Walter Yok Jr., and W. J. McGizinis Jr., presented letters from congressional members and other stakeholders. A decision was postponed. CG Mulnix of the Wyoming Air Service spoke on air school plans and invited attendance at an open house. A rodeo possibility was discussed with Arnold Olson to approach the American Legion. Fifteen members attended and were served supper by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Statutory rape case in Pinedale taken to Supreme Court

April 30 report from Cheyenne says Carol F. Koch’s statutory rape conviction was appealed from Sublette County District Court to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Koch received an eight to twenty year prison term in Pinedale last November for immoral carn al knowledge of his 13 year old stepdaughter in June 1944. Sentence was imposed by Reedpt Judge H. R. Christmas after the Pinedale court conviction.

National Music Week Observed In Big Piney Event

Big Piney observes National Music Week from May 4 to May 10 with a band concert and the film Diamond Horseshoe at the local theatre on Wednesday night May 7 at 6 00 PM. Both features priced with theatre ticket. The band will receive all money above the expense of the film.
