The Other Side of the Door
A reflective memoir fragment set in early San Francisco, tracing a girl’s childhood and adolescence among the gray city, fog, and wind. It recalls a turbulent mother’s death, the growth of a girl under her father Abby and Hallie Ferguson, and vivid scenes of convents, parties, and a changing urban landscape through the child’s eyes.
