Notations From Big Piney Soil Conservation District Meeting
The Big Piney Soil Conservation District re-elected Co of Fear Jr as chairman with John Firenild as vice chair and Frank D Ball Jr continuing as secretary treasurer. The board invited a Soil Conservation Service reader to review the survey and accepted McGinnis conservation plan. They approved Reuben M Fox for district assistance and planned to attend a Quad-SCD cooperative seed pool meeting. Orders total 1100 with twelve ranchers placing orders. Tanner Brook at Marbleton works on twelve acres with A Conrad and carryall-scraper assistance. The field survey used a 100 ft grid, noting elevation stakes, feasible leveling up to 16 ft deep and 6 ft wide, with 3009 cu yds of cut to move. This is early district leveling work intended to spur further projects, with potential ranch benefits. The leveling will enable border indication or gradient systems. A federal-state snow survey forecast for Wyoming indicates variable snowpack and potential summer streamflow impacts due to soil moisture deficits. Senator Barrett introduced Senate bill S 3071 to raise desert entry limits to 320 acres, amending prior provisions. A March 26 fashion show at Helen’s Shop is noted.
