A travel film titled Barrel Number One about the oil industry was shown at a Lions Club meeting on February 21. Produced by the American Petroleum Institute, the 29 minute mov is told through the workers who extract, transport, refine, and market oil products.
Open houses at the University of Wyoming in Laramie run March 13 to 16 for tournament visitors. Students can tour eight colleges, libraries, and campuses with demonstrations lectures and displays. Faculty will discuss programs. special tours depart from a central info booth with shuttle service every 15 minutes.
Community group urges participation in the March of Dimes fundraiser to aid heart health programs and research. Local volunteers organize events, collect donations, and promote awareness across the city. Funds support patient care, research grants, and outreach initiatives.
The Big Piney weather station reports 19 years of March data with an average temperature of 24.40 degrees and an average high of 53.0 degrees. Snow and water equivalents are noted, including a 116 inch snow in 1938 and 624 inches water in 1938. Reports from Snide Resin and Gus course show mixed moisture, with April readings suggesting above average moisture for the region.

Wyoming Game and Fish tags bighorn sheep in Fremont County Jakeys Fork area as part of a study. Wildlife workers trap and tag the animals and release them nearby. Some ewes have their horns painted as part of the program.
The department says painting thorn marks on neighboring bighorn sheep will help identify herd movements and aid in monitoring migration patterns across the region. The approach aims to simplify data collection on herd behavior and movement.
Wyoming students continue medical studies with Rochester and Colorado Medical Schools. Ronald Smith, Magdall Atwell, Laronlé, Alan Dein Ev e, and Juan Clark Pimcaide gain entry, with several others from Laramie Cheyenne Evanston and nearby towns already at Rochester Medical School.
New device developed at Hines VA hospital reduces death risk by showing a patient’s heartbeat on a meter and via earphone recording. The Guardian Monitor is small three pound unit using four pushlight batteries, operable by nurses and rescue personnel, tested successfully at Hines VA. It could aid in shock cases and when medical staff are limited.
The Easter Seal Society stands as the oldest and largest voluntary agency aiding the crippled. It mobilizes volunteers and funds to provide services, rehabilitation, and advocacy for disabled people across the region.
Friday March 8 set for a Mountain National Farm Loan Association meeting and dinner at the American Legion Hall Big Piney at noon. President Philip Manne Sr says large attendance is expected and prizes will be awarded while Wayne E Smath secretary of the Federal Land Banks of Omaha is the principal speaker.
The 4-H Big Piney Penguins announce a program for friends parents and the community on March 13 at 7 30 pm at the Legion Hall. Each junior leader will present a segment on leathercraft wildlife and cooking with a part for all. Join the 4-H Way and bring friends and parents.
Governor Milward L Simpson appoints Paul McGrath of Big Piney to a select Wyoming group aiding in a regional education outreach. A San Francisco meeting April 10-11, sponsored by the Education Beyond the High School committee and the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education, will address education challenges. funds to cover Wyoming delegates are not provided, and sponsors urge local support. The March issue of Wyoming Wildlife magazine features two articles, Survival and Reading Nature's Signs, with editor Greg Smith noting its statewide distribution.
