Red Cross Mobilizes After Early January Disasters

Destructive weather and tornadoes in January caused 54 deaths and 150 hospitalizations as the Red Cross mobilized nationwide. Volunteers aided rural families across 11 states, providing shelter, clothing, medical care, and recovery support. Legion Auxiliary News Notes 1946 Meeting and Hall Plans

The Amenem Legion Auxiliary held its regular meeting on Sunday March 3 1946 with a pot luck and a joint session with the Legion to discuss the future Legion hall. A five member trustee board was formed including William Hicks William McGinnis Charing C Howerton and Mane Farrell and Anna Christensen. The plan features a dance hall two lounges a kitchen and a recreation room in the basement for local youths regardless of Legion or Auxiliary membership. The Amateur Hour is set for March 16 1948 at the Community hall with three cash prizes and no age limit. Contenders must register with Marie Farrell by March 14. A dance with local music will follow.

Marine Corps Opens Enlistments for Duty With Aviation Units

The United States Marine Corps announces a new program inviting enlistment for duty with aviation units. Captain Robert P. Smyth leads the effort in Cheyenne, highlighting training paths to Pilot Navigator Radar Gunner Engineer and Bombardier roles. Open to men 18 to 25 with emphasis on educational advantages. Enlistments run indefinitely with terms of two three or four years and include full rights and benefits. The Wyoming recruiting office is in the Federal Recreation Building Cheyenne.

Youth Takes Over at Pinedale High School Play

Freshman and sophomore cast perform a comedy about youth and education at Pinedale High School. Albert, played by Don Carson, leads the troupe in a Friday matinee at two o clock and an evening show at eight. Tickets 15 cents for under sixth grade, 30 cents for older students, 40 cents for adults. full cast to be announced next week.

Senator E. V. Robertson Seeks Wool Stabilization Bill

Washington February 27 Senator E V Robertson introduced bill S-1874 to stabilize wool production and halt declines in prices. The measure would authorize the Agriculture Secretary through a government corporation to purchase wool at market price or a set January 15 1946 price for ten years. Hearings expected to begin soon.

Commercial Club Meeting At Piney Hotel Draws Local Notables

The Big Piney Commercial Club met last Thursday at the Piney Hotel with 40 members served a turkey dinner. Guests included Pinedale Loons Club representatives and local figures. Discussions covered town sewerage, water systems, game and fish issues, fundraising for a county hospital, and committee action on equipment degradation. District tournament results noted with Big Piney winning first game 38 to 21 and losing second 20 to 33.
