Turkeys Released In Wyoming Aims To Boost Populations
Evolution of a wildlife transplant program began in 1950 to establish Merram’s wid turvey like populations in Wyoming. Importations from New Mexico and releases in the Larame Peak area led to survival and spread across Laramne Peak Akany Coverze and Platte regions. Live trapping captured dozens from McLeod ranch and other sites for release along Pat O’Hara and Redwater creeks. Additional stock from New Mexico arrived in February 1951, expanding to multiple counties. Natural feed remains the limiting factor on population growth. full effects will take years to evaluate. Nearby residents include Mr and Mrs Dan Budd returning from vacation, visitors from Long Beach, and a Kemmerer death reported for John Banesu. Postmaster George Burp and family visited Ogden, Utah.
