Wyoming Legislature Increases Taxes Without New Laws
The Wyoming Taxpayers Association reports state tax hikes approved by the legislature include a one cent rise in the gasoline tax, expansion of the sales tax to certain services, an eight cent cigarette tax, and taxing beer and liquor. The three percent sales tax is now uniform statewide, with local governments receiving portions of the revenue. Gasoline tax revenues fund state road systems, and cities may levy additional local gasoline taxes. The broadened services tax could add about two million dollars annually to the state general fund, though personal and professional services remain exempt.
