Annual School Meet ing Held Monday at district school
The regular annual meeting of School District No. 9 was held Monday at the school house with broad attendance from precincts. Al Osterhout was reelected trustee unanimously, keeping the current board: F. D. Chapel director Frank Springman treasurer and Osterhout clerk. Salaries of teachers were cut and three fewer schools to operate. A budget of 11 000 dollars was approved for a new house on the ranch. Bonds were not issued and the State Bank of Big Piney will handle local matters.

Walter Ball of Halfway Miss Scott of Bronx and Jessie Jewett of Hillmont were visitors last weekend in Piney. Joseph Bell of Halfway transacted business here early week. Sheriff Jas Payne and family of Pinedale visited over the weekend with his brother Will Payne.

Oil News: Corder Well Rig Moved With Drilling to Resume
The Corder well rig was moved this week and installation is underway with plans to return to drilling soon. The outfit shipped from Casper, Hartley trucks moved it from Opal to a site twelve miles west of Piney. Drilling began this week at the Lackey well in the Cretaceous field near Midwest lease amid local interest in the Cretaceous Co. Miss Lydia Tanner arrived from Laramie to visit her father L. D. Tanner. William Sherman, released from Kemmerer hospital after a pneumonia spell, returned home to recover.

Local Visitors and Movers Stir Piney Field Week
Mr and Mrs Chas Ott and daughter Mae of Mason were town visitors Monday. John Stevens moved into the Osterhout house vacated by Frank Springman. Jack Doby of New York Life Insurance Co in town for agency matters. Alex Price of Daniel passed through en route home from a railroad trip and attended Monday school meeting. Walton Yose Whitman and Chas Bird of Midway attended. William Hunter of Kemmerer, a car salesman, sold a Nash to Walford Peterson. Mrs Irwin Covey returned from Garden City Utah after visiting mother since May. Her husband joined her. Mrs Louise Hodges was formerly Mrs Irwin Covey. J M Warden of Los Angeles and family staying in Big Piney before touring the country. They visited LaBarge and impressed with the area.

Horse Thieves Nabbed After Moonlit Stunt Near Midway
Andrew Calvetti and Evel C. Wilson stole a horse and saddle from Osterhout ranch. They fled toward Star valley but wandered and returned to Midway on Green River. Walter Vickrey exposed the swap attempt, leading Sheriff Payne to arrest them Tuesday. The pair claimed desertion from Fort D. A. Russell.
