Three local men Morris Wassenberg Boyd R Conroy and Harold Ricord died in a car crash near Daniel Wyoming on June 1 The victims left Big Piney en route to Pinedale about ten oclock their car veered and plunged into Horse Creek Atty Pat Queay spotted the wreck and alerted authorities The community mourns the loss of two ex service members and a long time ranch hand with tributes and military honors at the burial and memorial services in Big Piney.

PFC Delbert Lewis 18 in Japan with 1st Cavalry Division
Private Delbert Lewis of Big Piney Wyoming serves with the 1st Cavalry Division in the Nippon Capital occupation. An alumnus of the Unit Agricultural School at the 5th Cavalry Regiment he took courses in farm management live stock farming crop management and soil conservation. Overseas since October 13 1945 Lewis wears the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon Good Conduct Ribbon Victory Ribbon and Army of Occupation Ribbon. He enlisted March 14 1945 and plans to return to farming after discharge. His parents Mr and Mrs Edward Lewis live in Big Piney.

Wyoming Lands Open to Veterans for Homestead Settlements
George E. Spinner, manager for USES Veterans Center, says returning veterans will have preferred rights to settle public land irrigated farms on Sheshere in Wyoming and Yakima Roza and Klamath projects. In Wyoming the Shoshone Heart Mountain area between Cody and Powell will offer about 40 public units with roughly 90 irrigable acres each this summer.
