Obituary for John Wardell Sr. Kindly noted in Salt Lake City

John Wardell Sr. born June 26 1859 in Eliabeth Penna died May 19 in Salt Lake City at 3 30 am aged 87. He leaves five sons Parley Wardell John H Wardell James Wardell Rex Wardell Martin Wardell and two daughters Mrs David Johnson and Mrs Frank Carr plus thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He came to Utah 53 years ago worked as a rancher and was beloved in the community. Funeral at Desert Mortuary Salt Lake City with music by all strange instruments. speakers Jack Hill and George Smith. pallbearers Vick Lee David Wright Will Wardell Henry Hull and Lance Hill.

Senator Robertson to Miss Wyoming Stock Growers Convent

Senator Robertson will not attend the Wyoming Stock Growers Association convention at Lander as he remains in Washington to work on pending legislation. Summer housing facilities strained by early convention scheduling

H C Anderson of the state Commerce and Industry department warns summer housing in state and local facilities faces overcrowding. He urges groups planning conventions to schedule for June 1 or after September 1 to ease demand, noting the prandiet season and cooperation from state secretaries in easing tourist and convention housing.

Town Council adds another drainage line on Forest front

The Town Council is installing a new water drainage line on the street in front of the Ranger residence to keep basements dry and reduce spring sheets. This will be the second line completed. Phil Mirincie Jr. underwent tooth extraction earlier this week after a blow to the face loosened teeth.

LeRoy Morse Enlists in Naval Reserve

E LeRoy Morse has enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve for inactive duty as reported by Paul N. Scherbel, a local volunteer Naval Recruiting Officer. Morse served in the Maine Corps Reserve during World War II and now works at the South Side Garage while planning to return to schooling next fall. He sought a two week summer training cruise and notes that 17 year olds may join for inactive duty.

Worland Set To Host VFW Encampment in June 1947

Worland Wyoming will host its first Veterans of Foreign Wars encampment June 22 to 24 1947. Around two thousand delegates and auxiliary members will attend the city events including a public memorial service in Worland Auditorium. The program includes business sessions entertainment and a Monday morning parade with prizes donated by local merchants.

Wyomingmen receive senate congratulatory letters for Army commissions

Senator E V Robertson sent letters congratulating 34 Wyoming men whose nominations for Regular Army commissions were confirmed by the Senate. He praised their World War II service and commitment to remaining in the armed forces during unsettled times. The 34 were among 9,200 officers chosen from over 70,000 applicants in the second integration program. a further group will be appointed next week.

One Killed When Car Plunges Into Grey's River

Afton Wyoming June 3 Charles Pringle 55 of Smoot died Sunday when the car in which 22 was riding skidded from the highway and plunged into Grey's river thirty feet below Other occupants W W Hunsaker 60 and Waller Parson 28 both of Smoot and Donald Baldwin 18 of Afton escaped when the vehicle started skidding Hunsaker suffered a broken collarbone after the plunge the car sank in 12 feet of water no attempt had been made to remove it by late Monday

Senator Robertson Pushes More Reclamation Funds for West

Senator BV Robertson of Wyoming urged restoration of 14 million dollars to the western reclamation program before the senate appropriations committee. He argued the house cut was based on misreading a carryover of unexpended funds and noted obligated contracts and limited unobligated balances require the 1947 appropriation. He reiterated the claim that reclamation funds are refundable as settlers repay project costs in cash.
