Robertson urges reform of 1902 reclamation act at Cody luncheon

U S Senator Robertson of Wyoming told reclamation officials and club members that rising costs require changes in how projects are funded. He favors either a flat per acre charge or a government assisted share, arguing settlers should not bear debts for national food needs. He has consulted officials and seeks action this session.

Barley Varieties for Wyoming Bulletin Released

The state experiment station announced a new barley bulletin numbered 283. Entitled Barley Varieties for Wyoming, the publication discusses performance of common barleys in Wyoming and was prepared by Dayton Kingman now based in Lincoln Nebraska. Copies are available from Wyoming county agents.

New Wyoming documents added to UW archives

University of Wyoming archives gain a new collection of historical Wyoming documents. Archivist Miss Lola M. Homsher said Dr. J. G. Van Slyke contributed the Justice's docket of Hyattville for 1887 to 1903, a period when the town was in Johnson county before becoming Big Horn. The docket covers murders, a Crow Indian game killing, and wage-suit cases under local justices.

The final meeting of Unit 78 for the year was held at the Howerton home Tuesday. Poppy sale last Saturday was successful. thanks extended to the public. New officers were elected for the coming year including May Jensen president and Cap Locuey house treasurer. The group planned a rummage sale for July 17 and a Pan American study event on June 19 at the Spanish branch cabin.

The University of Wyoming Geological Museum and the American Museum of Natural History plan a joint Wyoming fossil fish expedition. Led by Dr Bobb Schaeffer, with Roger L Batten representing UW, the group departs June 18 for the Green River beds and returns August 1. Half the collection goes to UW.

One Killed Two Injured In Auto Wreck Near Daniel

William Black, 62, of Rock Springs was killed when the car overturned near the Sergent ium en route to Jacke an. His wife Helen was seriously hurt and a third party, Rober Bukelic, was badly bruised as the vehicle failed to make a curve and rolled several times. The trio were rushed to Rock Springs Memorial Hospital where Mrs Bleck had several injuries and Bukelic was bruised in several places.

First Junior Leaders Camp Set for June in Douglas

Laramie reports the first state training camp for 4 H Junior leaders will run June 9 to 12 at the state fairgrounds in Douglas. Ages 16 to 20, active in 4 H clubs, will attend for leadership, recreation, and handicraft training under a trained staff. About 50 to 75 delegates are expected with leaflets available from county extension offices.

Veterans Benefits and Dependency Proof Rules in 1948

VA announces added dependencies must be proven by September 1 1948 to qualify for increased subsistence back to April 1 1948. Evidence should be mailed to the VA office with veterans records. Disabled veterans under Public Law 16 may receive automatic adjustments. other dependents require veteran submission. Muster-out pay must be applied for by February 3 1950.
