Pinedale Artists Guild Opens Spring Meeting at Mrs Brown Home

The Sublette County Artists' Guild met in Pinedale at Mrs Lew Brown's home with 15 members and one guest, Mrs Josephine Coolidge. Officers elected: Virginia O Nel president, Wilda Springman vice president, Mane Meyer secretary. Members praised outgoing officers, contest awards given to Jerry Farmer and Joan Shurtliff, with other placements. Mrs Brown invited to exhibit in New York. next meeting set for June 15 with Mrs Pearl Spencer and Mrs Sadie Osterheut.

Graduation Exercises Held in Pinedale Last Thursday

Twenty six graduates of the Pinedale High School were addressed Thursday by Dr John Walzer of the University of Wyoming School of Education at 2:00 pm. An Allan F Gates played the largest commencement group in the town’s history. Rev RB H Turley offered the invocation. Bert Roth directed the school choir and Dorothy Clodius gave the salutatory while Dorothy Crowder delivered the valedictory. Dr Kulzer spoke after the choir number. Fred Guffey presented the class and diplomas were awarded to graduates including Lois Adams Dorothy Crowder Albert Grable and Vernon Delgado among others. scholarships and special awards went to Albert Grable and Dorothy Crowder.

Wyoming awards ten road contracts totaling 565663

The Wyoming Highway Commission awarded ten road construction contracts totaling 565,663 dollars. Awards include Huntley Construction for grading and piping on the Mig Piney east road in Sublette county. Peter Kiewit and Sons for the Casper four lane highway. Hopiens and McPherson for the Wheatland-cast road. and others across Park, Platte, Sublette, Big Horn, and Sheridan counties.

Liberty Bell replica tour stops in Sublette County Sunday

A full size Liberty Bell replica touring Wyoming as part of the 1950 Savings Bond Independence Drive will be in Pinedale on Sunday June 4 and may pass through late Sunday evening en route to Kemmerer. It will later go to Cheyenne for permanent display, with exact routing donated by major American copper firms and transport provided by Ford trucks.

Thompson visits Sublette County campaign stop

OC Thompson deputy secretary of state and Republican congressional candidate spoke in Sublette County on Memorial Day week. He addressed support for his campaign in Pinedale while accompanied by Mrs Thompson and Paul Crane, son of the governor. Thompson praised his WWI service and ongoing work as deputy secretary of state.

Patrick J Shafer, manager, warns in Pine Dale about losses in old age and survivors insurance due to misunderstanding of provisions. He cites about twelve percent of claims with no clear way to know total losses, urges workers to contact the Rock Springs office when turning 65, and asks employers to notify if employees die or leave work since 1936.

Former Resident Hattie Hook Dies in Denver

Hattie M Hook former Big Piney resident and widow of Dr Merritt B Hook died in Denver last Saturday May 27 after a stroke and illness. She ran Big Piney Drug Store with her husband from 1916 to 1927 and Dr Hook practiced medicine then. Up to her death she operated a boarding house in Denver. Funeral services are held today in Denver. A full obituary is not available.

Luncheon Shower Honors Miss Mickelson Before Cheyenne Wedding

Mass Tharon Mickelson was honored at a luncheon shower on May 31 hosted by Mrs Floyd Spencer and Mrs Dan Budd at the former home. Guests enjoyed a decorative setting with miniature place cards, pink candles, and spring flowers, while Miss Mickelson's future by cub outs trem magazines provided entertainment and guests signed a page. A five piece Paul Revere cookware set was given as a gift.
