Camp Fire Notes and Charity Activities

Camp Fire meetings each Sunday after Sunday School. Members studied symbols, songs, and dances and earned honor beads. On May 6 they hiked and cooked bacon and eggs over a camp fire. They made May baskets for those who rarely go out and sold Red Hearts for the Wyoming Children's Home, raising 11.50. Fat collection continues until 100 pounds, then Mishkind’s truck delivers it to Ogden for processing.

Fifth War Loan drive aims to hit July 8 goal

The editor urges all Americans to buy extra War Bonds as part of the ongoing Fifth War Loan campaign. Since June 12 reports show record individual buyers, stressing every extra bond strengthens the war effort and supports troops in life and death battles.

Gas Coupon Transfers End June 1 1944

A notice states that on and after June 1 1944 no transfer of gasoline may be made and that gas coupons C 2 and C 2 are void after June 1. The directive restricts coupon use starting immediately with the date.

University of Wyoming Commencement Set for June 26

Nearly one hundred Wyoming students will receive degrees or certificates at the university commencement Monday June 26. Governor Lester C Hunt will be present and greet graduates. Dr James F Branmerman of the University of New Mexico will give the commencement address. The baccalaureate sermon June 35 will be by Rev Raymond Waser of Denver. Both services open to the public with no tickets required. This marks the fifty fourth graduation since 1891.

Memorial Day Service at Episcopal Church Draws Community

A Memorial Day service at the Episcopal church Sunday May 28 featured organ by Mrs Moffat singing led by Mrs Logan and Candie light me by Mrs Carr and Mrs Farrell. Rev Dudley McNeil gave the address. Taps were performed by Miss Finnegan Ray Griggs Samora and Fitzpatrick.

The marriage of Miss Helen Eichman of 148 N Maiden St to Sgt N Philips Howerton of the Army Air Forces will take place on June 3 in Washington D C. Howerton's home is in Wyoming and the couple will reside in Arlington Virginia. He is the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Charles Howerton of Big Piney.

Tick Fever Cases Rise Across Wyoming This Year

Wyoming reports eleven spotted fever cases so far in 1944 with three from Fremont Natrona and Converse counties noted. First case appeared April 29, similar to 1943 timing. Health officials urge vaccination as cases concentrate near Fremont Natrona Converse while southern and northern borders show fewer infections. 4 H Club War Bond Effort Highlights Youth Farm Work

The 4 H Clubs of America, 1 700 000 strong, support the war program by investing profits in War Bonds and boosting food supply.
