Kemmerer Wyoming July 26 Eight men died today when the powder magazine at the Sublet coal mine blew up The explosion destroyed the magazine which held black powder for coal extraction and caused extensive property damage the cause remains a mystery

The Cottonwood Irrigation and Development Co plans a Green River project to water 39 000 acres of fertile land. A tour showed an advanced camp, a 60 horsepower ditching machine, and rapid progress on ten miles plus of canal. The canal aims to supply homes for hundreds and boost local business.
Over the past week copious rains refreshed the area after a spell of very hot weather. Travelers faced muddy stretches on the road between here and LaBarge but reports say the roads dried and traffic resumed normally. Several residents and visitors, including Wm. McGinnis, Lew Henrick, Albert Larson, and Bruce Craynor, are noted for trips and business in Kemmerer Piney and Evanston. The community also notes a court case over a saw mill debt and a double wedding announcement for Mr and Mrs Christian Wrang.
The Piney and Pinedale baseball game at the Fairgrounds last Sunday ended 17 to 3 in favor of Pinedale. Pinedale scored ten runs in the first inning, while Piney fought on but failed to repeat their July 4th win. A third meeting is planned in Pinedale. a large crowd attended and visitors traveled with Pinedale.
Roy Henderson returned home from the McGinnis ranch at week’s end. Mrs. E Jones and her children visited Mrs. Dave McClure on Thursday. Herman Genette, Jack Marx, Fred Angelo, Ray and Jerry Whitman helped Chrisman ranchers harvest hay. B M Fox began haying recently. Joshua Twichel visited his son P P Twichel on Sunday. Bettie and Lucy Whitman have recovered enough to move about after measles.
Oil fields report the Lincoln Idaho Company No 8 well has encountered oil sands. The company operates two of the best wells in the Piney field and continues drilling.
