Livestock Markets In Los Angeles Area Seen Stable

On July 1 1939 cattle supplies in California and Arizona feedlots are higher than last year yet grass fat cattle are scarce. Demand remains strong with red steers and heifers drawn from New Mexico Colorado Idaho and Missouri. Hog prices rose about a cent per pound over the last month and lamb prices hold steady with good and choice wooled lambs selling between 8.50 and 9.60 dollars.

The Big Piney Vacation Bible School, beginning June 26 with 26 children and rising to 43, runs daily with devotional assemblies, Bible study, singing, and handwork. Groups include primary led by Mrs. Carr, junior girls with Mrs. Stevens, and junior boys led by Mrs. Taylor and Phillips Howerton.

Death of Mrs Buster McIlvain in Red Wood City California

Word arrives of the death of Mrs. Buster McIlvain last weekend in Red Wood City California. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home. She is survived by her husband and two daughters. She previously worked as a telegraph operator at Opa before marriage. The Meilains lived in Kemmerer for years, Buster having served as Lincoln County sheriff before the family moved to California.

Jackson Neighborhood Pleads Winter Road Access For Jackson Hole

Jackson residents snowbound most of the winter ask the Wyoming Highway commission to keep highways into the Jackson Hole area open year round. A resolution requests that Two-Gwo-Teeg and Teton pass routes stay snow free for winter traffic to provide an outlet west and south. Delegations from Jackson and nearby towns drafted the appeal to Commission chairman Gwynne Schoonmaid.

Pests to Pick 50 Deputy Wardens in State

Cheyenne State Game Warden Les ter Bagley announced that 50 men will be selected as deputy game wardens for the autumn big game hunting season. An eligibility list will be drawn from exams at Casper next Monday, with tests conducted by Bagley and fish warden James Simon. Only men aged 25 to 45 are eligible, and top scorers will be prioritized for future permanent appointments.

Bellamy Named WPA Director of Operations

Fulton D. Bellamy former Deputy State Engineer and Wyoming native from Albany county was named Director of Operations of the Wyoming Works Progress Administration effective July 1 succeeding Frank Strong. A number of town residents spent the Fourth in Snider Basin picnicking and fishing.
