Early Wyoming archives house letter press copies
The Wyoming State Archives received in 1957 a Governors Office collection of early archival materials including onion skin copy books called Letter Press Books. These copies captured original letters by placing moisture imprint on onion skin under letter press pressure to create copies. Fifteen letter presses from Governors Lamb Warren Baxter and Moonlight are stored, with the earliest May 18 1889 telegram from Governor Campbell requesting troops near Fort Bridger after Indians surrounded South Pass City and killed men.

McConkie Named New Ashley National Forest Supervisor

Veterans News Dividends Totals 262 Million For 5.32 Million Policies
Regular annual dividends of 262 million dollars will be paid to 5,320,009 World War I and II Insurance Policy holders during 1958. The dividend will be paid near each policy anniversary date throughout 1958. Two divisions share the total: National Service Insurance for about 1,090,000 holders and U.S. Government Life Insurance for about 300,000 holders.
