Big Piney Council Hears Protests on Sunday Dancing Law
A special Big Piney Town Council meeting on December 28 1967 addressed protests against a liquor license renewal for Ross Meeks and the repeal of Section 6312 of the Revised Ordinances. Proponents of repeal argued dancing on Sunday should be legal while maintaining moral law. One protest from Mrs Rachel A Scherbel opposed changes, citing Sabbath observance and community standards. The council approved Ordinance No 96 repealing section 6312, with four in favor and one protest, and then adjourned.
