The Big Piney newspaper announces new editor and manager starting March 1 1918 and relocation of offices. It promises independent progressive coverage, local news from the Green River valley, and a first class job department with reasonable prices.
Fred Hancey and Prof J E Burch of the Chamber of Commerce lead committee efforts this week to host the Wyoming Stockgrowers association in April. The appointment of committees includes General Olaf Jefson, J P Rosenberg, Oscar Beck, and J B.
About 300 visitors are expected to attend the convention drawing attendees from various groups including Smith D. J. Brown Peter Olson Hoskins Social Mesars and Mesdames R. H. Embree Harry Trost and C. N. Whitney. The Kemmerer Republican notes the diverse turnout.
The grammar room needs a cough remedy and Mrs. Scott from Daniel visited the primary room Tuesday morning. Martha Whitman was absent due to illness. Washington’s birthday created a holiday last Friday. Eighth graders read about Jean Valjean. Harold Hakes had a broncho accident Sunday and missed Monday. A spring school play is planned to fund graduation expenses. A patriotic program drew a good crowd last Thursday. Rev. Fawkes spoke on the American and his flag, tea and wafers served. $13 was raised for the Junior Red Cross.
Mrs D H Scott of Daniel visits Piney amid snow delays. Travelers pass through from Lava Hot Springs and Cheyenne. Hesser from Chicago visits kin and ex Piney bank clerk. Draft re-exams trigger trips to Rock Springs as local men return from travels.
Mrs. Sarah Ellen Noble died at Burlington hospital at 11 10 yesterday morning after a three month stay there. Born March 29 1854 near Pilot Grove Iowa she lived in several states before returning to southeastern Iowa three years ago. Survived by husband Z T Noble adopted son Charles P Noble sister Mrs Alice Pickard aunt Mrs M N Shorts and five nieces and one nephew. Funeral details not disclosed with local tributes and community notices following.
Shel Baker met with Bert Parody twice this week. Wm. Bowlsby traveled from Pinedale by ski. Mrs. Frank Wilhelm and Mrs. Perry Gervis visited the office. Orin Robinson will resign soon. Mr. Querry will appoint a replacement. Arthur Hicks family visited Clyde Johnson. Mrs. Frank Hanson and daughter Ellen visited Mrs. Bondurant. Bert Parody went diving. Wm. Garvis returned from Big Piney to take a registrant exam. James Williams returned from Querry ranch to help Clyde Johnson.
The St John Baptist Mission advertises services for March 1 and March 3 1918 led by Rev A Gordon Fowkes Devotions at 8 00 am Sunday school 10 00 am Morning service 11 00 am Evening service 8 15 pm The Barren Fig Tree and The Silent Looks of the Savior are the sermon topics with a cordial welcome to all.
