Stage Driver Freezes Near Lander After 92 Hour Struggle

South Pass mail carrier Guy Mere, enduring a 92 hour battle with a Slizard, was rescued Sunday at 2 pm after crawling through deep snow with his team along Pine Ridge. Albert Bayer, stage line proprietor, sent the search party to reopen the road between Macific and South Pass to fulfill the government mail contract.

William Pense Dies After Five Week Illness

William Pense died last Friday morning at his daughter's home Mrs. BE. R. Noble after an illness of over five weeks. Born in Williames port Pennsylvania May 1 1831 he lived in Iowa most of his life. He leaves two children Mrs. Eb. Tt. Noble of Nig Piney and Joseph Dense of Boise Idaho. He was a self educated man and early pioneer known for hospitality and helping others.
