Wyoming Education History A South Pass School Tale

A Wyoming Territory letter recalls the first public school at South Pass City. James Stillman taught before taxes funded the schoolhouse or salary. The 16 by 18 foot log building had a dirt roof and fireplace. About 20 pupils attended the first term with Dave Tweed among the survivors.
