State Board appoints officers for Wyoming institutions

The State Board of Charities and Reform on February 8 approved a complete slate of appointments including a general superintendent for the Wyoming State Hospital at Evanston, a superintendent for Hofferings Park at Thermopolis, doctors and dentists for the Children's Home at Casper, a penitentiary warden, penitentiary doctors and dentist, a state probation officer, an assistant state probation officer, and a chief clerk for the Wyoming Industrial Institute at Worland.

Probation and medical staff appointments announced

Dr. Stollard and Dr. Crum will begin medical services on April 1 in Rawlins. Norman Baillie of Laramie named State Probation Officer also to start April 1 with prior roles as Chief Clerk in Albany County District Court and in the Secretary of State office and Navy veteran. Harold Bacheller of Casper named Assistant State Probation Officer with offices in Casper. former Deputy State Attorney General and long parole work experience in Natrona and Niobrara counties.

Congressman Barrett Takes Up Fight to Abolish Jackson Monument

Washington Feb 1 Representative Frank Barrett of Wyoming reintroduces a bill to abolish the Jackson Hole Monument and restore the area to its former status. The measure echoes a 1944 proposal vetoed by President Roosevelt. The monument’s creation reduced grazing land for cattlemen and cut state tax revenue.

Veterans urged to reinstate NSLI in Wyoming drive

A statewide campaign led by prominent Wyoming citizens aims to urge veterans to reinstate lapsed National Service Life Insurance policies. James B. Ables said the VA plan, backed by General Omar N. Bradley, targets about 15 825 Wyoming veterans with two months premiums required for reinstatement. An insurance task force will visit the area in March to support the drive.

Sherwin a Wyoming newspaper man recently completed three years service with the Army has joined the staff of Senator B V Robrsnsen He is the son of W G Sherwin Cody and formerly worked for Cheyenne Rock Springs and Cody papers He has been with a Salt Lake City paper since last September and is a University of Wyoming graduate Mrs Sherwin and their young daughter reside in Cody for now.

Farm Prices in 1947 Seen Sliding From Peak

A. W. Willis of the Wyoming Agricultural Extension Service predicts a downward spiral in farm product prices through 1947. He says the upward trend has peaked and raw product prices may fall for another year. Lower prices will reduce net income, affecting debt payments and living standards, unless farmers adopt stronger farm and ranch management and production plans to meet future price shifts.
