Charles H Fredell Dies in Big Piney Wyoming Pioneer Passes

Charles H Fredell longtime Big Piney resident and Wyoming pioneer died January 29 after a leg ailment. Born October 23 1861 in Pennsylvania he worked as a stage driver near Rawlins and later ranching and cattle business in Green River Valley. Survived by widow Mrs W G Warren brother J E Fredell Seattle and three nieces. Funeral at Congregational Community Church conducted by Rev Gayle Strickler with Songs led by Virginia Kennedy Mary Moore Lester Gibson and Mrs George Moffat. Interment in Big Piney cemetery.

Sublette County Plans 10000 Bond Purchase and Budget Moves

Sublette County commissioners met to approve a 10000 purchase of United States defense bonds and transfer 3000 from the m2 and bridge fund to miscellaneous funds. They set daylight saving time for February 9 and approved a county agent position with up to 65 per month. They asked the Farm Security Administration to relocate its office to free courthouse space.

Forest Service distributes funds to Wyoming counties

Forest Supervisor Carl Arension states that $11 268.00 of $13 265.00 total forest receipts from the western Wyoming counties are returned for road and school purposes. Bridger National Forest receipts were $13 170.60. An additional 10 percent of state federal forest receipts goes to the Forest Service for roads and trails, and 20 percent grazing receipts may fund water developments and range improvements to aid stockmen.

Boy Scout Week Observed Across Communities

February 8, 1942 marks the 32nd birthday of the Boy Scouts of America and Boy Scout Week runs February 5 through 12. Cubs and Scouts hold services and ceremonies at local churches with graduations, a Court of Honor, and signups encouraged for new members.

Third Registration Dates Set for Sublette County Men

The Third Registration targets men born on or before December 31 1924 who have not reached age 45 by February 16 1942 and who have not registered before. Sessions run February 14 in Pinedale February 15 in Big Piney and February 11 in Pinedale with extended hours. Special make up dates February 5 to 13 available. Local Board offices open 9 AM to 6 PM except February 15. Big Piney also hosts a registration site February 15 from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Injures Shoulder in Fall at Community Hall

Stevens slipped on steps at the Community hall last Saturday night, injuring his left shoulder and tearing a ligament. He went to Kemmerer for X rays to check for a break, with initial tests showing no fracture. He remains on duty at Burney 43 Company's store using a sling, accompanied by his wife and the Fear couple.

Campfire Girls Meet At Sherman Home

Our Campfire gathering was held at the Sherman home. The Pledge of Allegiance opened the meeting. Secretary Anna Leo Gray read the minutes. Treasurer Shirley Fox presented the financial report. A motion was made to purchase an outdoor craft book.

Sublette County committees met January 30 1942 with D M MacDonald of the U S Employment Service to plan spring labor needs. Estimate 150 men needed by April 1 plus current workers.
