All Sublette County Cutter Races will be run in Pinedale on Saturday and Sunday February 6 and 7. Teams from Big Piney and other Wyoming towns are expected, promising a fast, furious contest on a snowy track with strong local and visiting drivers chasing top honors. Be there for the fun with invitational crews from nearby towns.
The Jackson Elk Pancreative Elk Study Group announces a five year cooperative effort with the National Park Service and multiple agencies to collar neck bands on elk in Tasit-n’s Hole and nearby ranges. Neck bands aid migration tracking and will be paired with ear-tags for location and movement data.
The Sublette County Courthouse hosts the first county wide Young Republican League meeting on February 10 1960 at 8 00 o clock p m. The purpose is to elect officers fill vacancies and plan the year program inviting ages 18 to 36. The item ends noting a separate line about mountain lion calls.
Big Piney school children donated 62 dollars to the March of Dimes drive with elementary students contributing over two thirds of the total. A mirror in the front hall prompts students to consider appearance and a district meeting on February 27, 1960 discussed building needs and enrollment figures.

Sublette County has dipped all cattle except four isolated herds and several calf groups. Remaining herds lie in the Bronx Myrna and Big Pinesy areas while undipped calves are at Cora and on South Middle and North Piney Creeks. Dipping continues in Lincoln Teton and Fremont counties and officials expect quarantine to end soon after all calves are dipped.
Harry F. Scribner director of Internal Revenue Cheyenne District notes each taxpayer is entitled to one personal exemption of 600 dollars on 1959 returns. Taxpayers may request Document No. 5013 Personal Exemptions and Dependents by writing to the Internal Revenue Service in Cheyenne Wyoming.
The mountain ash berry is highlighted as a preferred food for the Rocky Mountain marten, noted for its popularity among the species.
Tentative figures from the Wyoming Highway Department show more than 9000 traffic accidents in 1959 with an estimated economic loss of 22.8 million dollars. The year produced 169 deaths and 2261 non fatal injuries, with Cheyenne totaling 1365 accidents and Casper 1228.

Robert M Ballou resigns as GF Division Chief effective March 15 to take a regional wildlife refuge role with the U S Fish and Wildlife Service based in Monte Vista Colorado. Ballou, employed since 1951, cites higher pay and career growth as reasons. he previously held roles including biologist assistant Federal Aid Coordinator and Federal Aid Coordinator.
Sublette County 4-H Council plans its meeting at Elaine's Cafe in Big Piney next Tuesday February 9 starting at 2 9 p m. Officers will be elected and calendar dates set. a skit by new leaders features Helen Evans Stella McKinsey and Carl Urbig.
The Big Piney P.T.A. schedules its regular monthly meeting for Monday February 8 at 8:00 pm in the High School. Mr George Kukowski a history instructor will discuss International Relations and foreign affairs. The Great Decisions 1960 Group is forming and all are welcome.
The Subletts County Fair Board met January 26 in Pinedale to approve the 1950 fair for September 10 and 11. They considered moving the rodeo date, planned an exhibit building usable by community groups, and noted the project’s future use beyond livestock displays.
Sublette County members are urged to attend the annual meeting in Kemmerer Wyoming on March 1 1960. Retired members may attend by sending a postcard to the Kemmerer office by February 23 for reservations. Dinner is at 12 00 PM upstairs in Pioneer Case Kemmerer.
Sublette County library figures show increased circulation from 6402 in 1957 58 to 11433 in 1958 59 and 6410 in first half of 1959 60. Registered borrowers grew in Pinedale from 296 to 664 and in Big Piney from 118 to 305.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reports a surge in hunting information inquiries. Chief Charles R. Redermel said nearly 1,000 letters seeking Wyoming hunting details were received from nonresident sportsmen in January. In 1959 the division mailed about 73,000 information replies to nonresident hunters.
Notice: a special meeting of legal voters of School District No. Southwest in Sublette County Wyoming is called at Big Piney High School between 2:00 and 3:00 PM on February 27 1950 to determine the school site or authorize the board of trustees to select a site for a new building.
